This Photograph is a family favourite. It was taken of the artist’s grandmother, Bertha Troskie, as a 10 year old girl picking flowers with her 20 year old sister, the writer Suna Troskie, by their brother Herman Troskie. Bertha would forever be able to remember that day as clearly as if it had happened a moment ago, how excited her brother was about the new arrival at the Karoo farm, and how he insisted that they just carry on with what they were doing… but slowly.
