This artwork was created largely as an aesthetic exercise, playing with impressionism and pointillism. It is a slightly surreal landscape linked to the Alice in Wonderland moment of: the middle of the day, and at the same time; the middle of the night. The siren herself is gazing down on her world, possibly seeing the mysterious depths of the ocean we can only imagine. A flat still place to us, but a busy and enigmatic world of it’s own; the sea-scape symbolizes the veil between worlds. What may seem a barren desert, could be a place where worlds meet; where you have to let go of what you know in order to become part of something new.
