Resilience

This self portrait began as an experiment with space and form, with the pointillism paying homage to the Impressionist painter Surat, and his theories on colour mixing and vibrancy. The depiction of Cézanne’s Magdalene (or Sorrow) was influential in the inspiration of the self portrait, and the name of the painting.
